Road Traffic Accident (RTA) and injuries related to RTA are an important focus at Blue Maya Physio Clinic’s Physiotherapy, which is why we’re approved by ‘MedCo.’
In order to better understand ‘MedCo’ we need to know more about them. MedCo is a new system to facilitate the sourcing of medical reports in soft tissue injury claims brought under the MoJ’s new Pre-Action Protocol for Low Value Personal Injury Claims in Road Traffic Accidents (RTAs). From June 1st 2016 only those with MedCo accreditation and registration can produce initial fixed cost medical reports in soft tissue injury claims following RTAs.
Expert witness reporting
A Chartered Physiotherapist is a specialist in treating soft tissue injuries to the muscles, bones, and joints of the musculoskeletal system, and as such, they are certified to write medico legal reports and are frequently called upon to testify as an expert witness in legal proceedings.
Medico-legal reports can be provided by Blue Maya Physio Clinic and Ergonomics for a variety of specialties, including:
- Injures from whiplash,
- Injury to spine,
- Upper limb injuries specific to shoulder,
- Lower limb injuries
How much does it cost to obtain a report?
Upon receipt of the case remit, we may give a thorough written quotation for an assessment and full report. The cost depends on the case’s complexity and other circumstances, such as geography, which might affect the cost of medical-legal reports such as:
- The services required of the expert
- Purpose of the report
Issues to be addressed - Timescale for delivery
- Relevant GP and hospital records
- Witness statements
Particulars of claim and defence - Schedule of loss
- Party / parties responsible for the payment of fees
